Brigham Young Journals
April 17, 1847
Summary: Getting consensus on leadership
and warning to be careful.
Journal entry: Saturday. The Pioneer
company traveled eight miles and encamped.
The Company was organized as a Regiment. I was elected commander
of the Camp, Stephen markham colonel, Shandrach Roundy and John
Pack majors, and captains of tens were re-elected under this organization.
I instructed the brethren to be careful with their arms, and not
to stray off from the camp.
