May 10, 1997

Location: Lexington, Nebraska - Location: 40:46:51N 99:44:28W Elevation: 2389 feet

Summary: Saturday, May 10, 1997 (Sunny & Windy Day)

Journal entry: [Translated by Hajime Nakagawa]

We arrived in Lexington around noon. We usually reach stopping points around two o¨clock, but a big parade was scheduled in Lexington, so our plan was adjusted for it. This time was different from usual, we camped on a small plaza in the town. Many people gathered together to see our covered wagons. This town was located along a freeway, so we found a McDonald's and shouted for joy.

We were not harassed here with rain, but the wind was strong and cold. We pitched our tent slowly and deliberately because a pole of the tent had been broken by a high wind. It was possible that our pegs could be pulled out by the wind and lost, we went to a nearby store and bought twelve pegs.
