January 17, 1848
Location: Winter Quarters - 1014 miles left, Nebraska -
Location: 41:21:41N 95:56:45W Currently the site of Florence, Nebraska,
Winter Quarters was settled in September, 1846 as a temporary resting
place for the pioneers. It is located just west of the Missouri
river in Nebraska.
Summary: Mostly at home during the day; enjoying fiddlers
and dancing at night.
Journal entry: Monday Jan. 17th 1848. Mostly at home today
around town some.
At dark broke up a party at D. Russels which was got up contrary
to orders. After that the fiddlers went to Carns & then to Gardners
and played for us, while we had a dance till Twelve.
