Hosea Stout Journals

February 2, 1848

Summary: Engaged in police matters.

Journal entry: Wed Feb. 2nd 1848. Engaged with police matters & B. Coveys' case. It is now plainly manifest that he is guilty of seducing two girls right over twelve years of age which was reported to the president. Had a police meeting at Cox Shop at dark on the subject of the public arms Decided for each policeman to put in order five guns. They also agreed to allow Allen 50 cents per day for keeping the stray pen to Nov and 25 cents to Jan.
