Pioneer: Jim Bridger (Nick - 4th Grade)

Description: 4th Grade Nick's picture to accompany his report on pioneer Jim Bridger. Image courtesy of: Heritage Gateway Project Images, These images have been gathered to support the Sesquicentennial celebration of the immigration to Utah.

Jim Bridger was born in 1804. He was probably the first white man to see the Great Salt Lake. He was a fur-trapper and trader who spent many years in this area. He built Fort Bridger, Wyoming, in 1843. It was an important supply stop for the pioneers coming to Utah. I admire his pioneer qualities of self-reliance, adventure, sacrifice, and courage.
