I would like you to meet my great, great, great grandfather. He was born August 1, 1815 in Worcester, Massachusetts. His early life was spent on his father's farm. His ancestors were Puritan. At the age of 13 he moved to Quincy Illinois and started a business. In December, 1842 he was converted to the Mormon church by Joseph Smith. In 1844 he moved to Nauvoo and was ordained a bishop by Brigham Young. When the Mormons were driven out of Nauvoo in 1846 Joseph stayed behind to try to sell the churches property. He came to Salt Lake by wagon train. He was a good leader, and was chosen by Brigham Young to lead a group to settle the town of Salt Creek which is now Nephi, Utah. I chose Joseph Leland Heywood because he had such an interesting life.
