June 8, 1847
Summary: Mention of Salt Lake and Utah countryside.
Journal entry: Tuesday. Traveled 15 1/2 miles and encamped. Camped on the "La Boute." Hunters killed two deer and one antelope.
Met James H. Greeve, William Tucker, James Woodrie, James Bouvoir, and six other Frenchmen from whom we learned the Mr. Bridger was located about 300 miles west, that the Mountianeers could ride to Salt Lake from Bridger's in two days and that the Utah country was beautiful.
