William Clayton Journals
August 23, 1847
Location: Salt Lake Valley (the right place), Utah - The end destination for the trek across the plains.
Summary: Pioneers reach Fort Bridger.
Journal entry: MONDAY, 23RD. We started early this morning and arrived at Fort Bridger at one o'clock. We found the grass pretty much eaten off and only stayed an hour and a half while some of the brethren traded some, then went on eight miles farther and camped on a stream two rods wide, having traveled twenty - one and a half miles, the day very cool.
