April 22, 1847

Summary: Reports of disgruntled Indians.

Journal entry: Thursday. Traveled about twenty miles, encamped at the Pawnee Mission House.

Elder Daniel Spencer met with the High Council at Winter Quarters and reported that he had visited Major Miller, Indian Agent, and informed that the Omahas were stealing and butchering the cattle of the saints. Old Elk and some of his braves met, who appeared to be full of complaints, alleging that the Mormons eat their grass, cut down their timber, etc.
