Journal entry: [Editor's note: After arriving in the valley on the 22nd, the wagon train "will leave This is the Place State Park [in Salt Lake City] at 1 p.m. on the 23rd- and wind their way through the city, ending up at the City-County Building," says Alan Thompson - aide to Salt Lake Mayor Deedee Corradini.

Salt Lake City's Days of "47 parade committee has invited everyone who has trudged or pulled a handcart across the Great Plains to join its celebration. after a meeting with wagon-train leaders in Wyoming last weekend. Organizers decided everyone who made the entire trek from Omaha is welcome -- all 30 or so of the wagons, the eight handcarts and even the horses.]
