July 22, 1847

Summary: Advance and main company arrive.

Journal entry: Thursday. The advance and main body of the Pioneer company entered Salt Lake valey and encamped on the banks of Kanyon Creek [Emigration Kanyon].

Elders O. Pratt and Geo. A. Smith who had been exploring northward reported that about three miles from the campground there were two beautifl streams of water with stony botom [the forks of City Creek].

They also described the warm and hot springs.
