Journal entry: Saturday. Captn. Thomas Grover and eight others of the Pioneers left at North Platte ferry and ford to ferry the companies that should arrive and specially to ferry the emigration from Winter Quarters.
Traveled 21 1/2 miles.
About 570 wagons of the emigration from Winter Quarters have crossed the Elk Horn river.
While Jacob Weatherby, A.B. Lambson and two women were returning from the Elk Horn river to Winter Quarters the Indians shot Bro. Weatherby, who died soon after.
