Daniel George (Dan) Whitaker Journals

July 24, 1997

Location: Salt Lake Valley (the right place), Utah - The end destination for the trek across the plains.

Summary: Signing off.

Journal entry: Dear people of the world for the very last time
Today was the parade the walkers were behind the wagons. Someone told me that this is the 3rd largest parade in America. I have never seen so many people on the streets. They all stood up and clapped for us it felt good to know they wanted us in the parade.

I walked with handcart #4 and also Hebers handcart. We ended up at Liberty park. It was a great day.

I want to thank you for reading my website I enjoyed writing to all of you. I am glad that my dad would let us go on the trail I appreciate my ancestors alot more.
