Summary: Livestock report and a peace pipe.
Journal entry: Monday. Traveled 16 1/2 miles. Horses failing, but the oxen are gaining.
The Sioux chiefs, "O Wash te cha" and the "Brave Bear," visited us accompanied by thirty-three of their braves. They smoked the pipe of peace with us.
