Summary: From a letter to Richard Eatough covering the Armitstead journey between May 26 and June 29, 1853.
Journal entry: Commenced crossing the bottoms and the river. The bottoms for 4 miles is from ankle to waist deep with water. Several wagons stuck, and some wheels broke.
