Pioneer: Brigham Young (Eric - 4th Grade)

Brigham Young was born in 1801 and died in 1877. He was the second president of the L.D.S. Church. He led the Mormon pioneers from Illinois to Utah in 1846-1847. He helped them find a place to live where they would not be persecuted and could have freedom to worship. He organized and supervised the migration of close to 5,000 pioneers across the Great Plains and through the Rocky Mountains. He had courage, adventure, and preparation as well as self-reliance.
