Pioneer: Lewis Barney (Kara - 4th Grade)

Lewis Barney was a Mormon pioneer who came to Utah in 1847. He had lived and farmed in Missouri until religious persecution drove him from his home. He stood up for what he believed in, so he came to the Rocky Mountains to live in peace. He had a pioneer spirit of courage and sacrificied for his beliefs. If Lewis didn't come to Utah in 1847, I might not be living in Utah. My great-grandfathers back to Lewis Barney all grew up here. My father met my mother in another state, but they chose to live her after they were married.
